Children are to start by working individually
Show children four shapes of your own choice that they can copy, it may be better to spend a bit of time on each one, especially with younger children, so that they can memorise the shapes.
1. You could use a tall shape, small shape, wide shape and narrow shape to show differences in types of shape or something similar.
2. The shapes will need to be shapes that they can change to and from easily.
Once the children understand the shapes, introduce a rhythm or a beat. This could be music or a metronome or a vocal/instumental beat that you provide.
Children are then trying to change from the tall shape, to the small shape, then to the wide shape and then the narrow shape on each beat. Starting to create a rhythmical movement / dance
Now that children are familiar with the activitiy, it's their turn. They now need to come up with their own four shapes (different to yours). Give them some time to come up with their ideas and provide some feedback. This is a good time to focus on the detail in their shapes. Try to encourage elegant shapes, pointing fingers and toes, good posture etc.
When they all have their four shapes, go back to the rhythmical beats and they can practice their routine in time to the beat. This is a good time to start to alter the speed of the beat. How fast can they keep up with, or how slow can they go.
If working with children at the higher end of KS1, you may want to try pairing the children with a partner. Number the children 1 & 2. Get number 1 to teach their 4 shapes to number 2 and then get number 2 to teach their 4 shapes to number 1. Now they have 8 shapes in total! Can they memorise their 8 shapes and move to the rhythm... You can expand this idea into groups...
