We’re thrilled to share that AU Sports founders, Pete and Nat and their two boys, are embarking on an exciting new chapter, moving to Australia this January!
The move, inspired by a desire to enjoy the warmer climate, outdoor lifestyle and create amazing opportunities for their two little boys, marks a significant milestone in the AU Sports journey. But don’t worry—AU Sports in Worcestershire isn’t going anywhere!
What Does This Mean for AU Sports in the UK?
Pete and Nat will remain closely involved in the business, working behind the scenes remotely. Stepping up to the plate are Liam Phelan and Jess Beach, who will expand their managerial roles to cover tasks Pete and Nat can’t manage from a distance. Meanwhile, the incredible AU Sports coaching team will ensure the coaching timetable runs seamlessly.
“We’ve worked hard over the last 12 months to enhance our coaching team to make this transition as smooth as possible,” Pete shared.
What’s Next for AU Sports in Australia?
While Pete and Nat plan to take some time to settle in, Pete is already looking forward to exploring how AU Sports can expand into Western Australia.
“I’m excited to see how the coaching landscape works over there and figure out how AU Sports fits in. It’s a chance to start fresh while staying connected to our Worcestershire roots. In time I hope we can offer exciting opportunities for the young cricketers in our Academy programme!”
Remaining True to the AU Sports Ethos
Though the move will bring new opportunities, the AU Sports ethos remains unchanged. “Wherever we go, the goal is always to give children an experience that makes them want to return week after week and foster a lifelong love for sport,” Pete emphasized.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Pete and Nat expressed their gratitude to AU Sports’ customers, staff, and partners:
“There are so many individuals and families who have supported us over the years—some since the very start, without whom AU would not exist. To those who offered advice, loyalty, inspiration and encouragement: thank you. Most of all, we’ll deeply miss coaching the kids. We’ve known some of them since their preschool days, and it’s heartbreaking to step away, but we’re looking forward to regular updates on their journeys.”
When Is the Big Move?
Pete and Nat will fly out on 11th January. While things are hectic now, they’re hoping to plan a leaving celebration soon, so stay tuned for details!
