Activity 3:

SatNav Circles - Dribbling Game

10 mins

Method:

  1. Mark out different coloured and different sized circles in the area
  2. Set up a goal at either end of your space (approx 20m x 20m)
  3. Each player will need a football
  4. Ask players to continuously dribble the ball around the area that they are in.
  5. The pitch should be called one colour (Red) and the different circles should be made using coloured cones (Yellow, Blue, Green, Orange etc)
  6. Call out different colours and players have to quickly dribble to that zone and dribble the ball around that zone - some will be small and others a bit bigger. Avoid contact with others footballs.
  7. Every now and then, call out GOALS and players have to score as quickly as possible
  8. You could have a reward for the person that scores first and a forfeit for the person that scores last
  9. Repeat

Teaching Points:

  • Keep the ball close to you
  • Select the appropriate speed for the size and business of the space you are in
  • Be alert, react quickly to calls

Equipment:

  • Footballs
  • Cones
  • Goals

Activity 4:

Trade Players 2 to 1 Football Matches

25 mins

Method:

  1. Set up a normal football match
  2. You probably want 2x teams of 6 or more players
  3. Select a captain for each team. They are only captain for 1 goal and then the captaincy swaps again to someone else
  4. When a goal is scored, the captain of the team that scored must send 2 of their players to the team that conceded and choose a player from the team that conceded. Captains cannot be traded.
  5. Swap captains after the trades have been made.
  6. The aim is to either win the game by getting down to 0 players (final 2 players on that team that scored are the winners) - or be the players on the winning team at the end of the time

Teaching Points:

  • If you want to be kept on the winning side, you have to impress your captain with your performance
  • When you are winning the game, you will be outnumbered, so you must work harder and smarter to maintain your lead. If you lose a goal, you may lose your place on the leading team.

Equipment:

  • Goals
  • Football
  • Bibs
